About Us

SF Seals was founded in 1981 as a local, recreational team that reached competitive heights.  15 former Seals youth players have gone on to play for the National Team.  An astounding 43 players who have worn the Seals shirt have gone on to play professionally for teams all around the world.

In 1987, SF Seals featuring our Director of Coaching Shani Simpson was named "The USA's Team of the Year" by USA Today.  That amateur team went on to beat MLS's San Jose Clash on it's way to US Open Cup semi-finals.

The SF Seals supports the passions of our youth players and understands that being on a team and working together to grow and learn is important to youth development.  Our soccer program is aligned with the U.S. Soccer Development Academy guidelines established to help players learn and compete in the global world of soccer.

The San Francisco Seals is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission to grow successful young soccer players – both on and off the field.   With an emphasis on age appropriate skills development, and deeper understanding of game strategy,  our goal is to prepare SF Seals players for the next level of play while.  Equally important, our environment ensures that SF Seals players will develop important life skills that will help them succeed on and off the field.

SF Seals Core Values are:

  • Player Development: Emphasizing skill development over winning
  • Love of the Game: Developing a lifelong love of the game and having fun
  • Respect: Cultivating sportsmanship and teamwork while respecting others and honoring the game
  • Effort: Instilling a culture of hard work and competitive spirit
  • Positivity: Providing a supportive environment, culture and community for players, coaches and parents

The SF Seals currently manage over 60 teams, boys and girls, from U8-U19 plus a highly competitive U23 college prep program. Our teams span all levels from SFYS recreational and upper hourse leagues to NorCal competitive travel teams

We also welcome and support school based teams wishing to stay together as a team while offering competitive player development to those players who are looking for extra training and development opportunities.

All Seals teams are coached by our professional coaches.  Please contact us for more information at info@sfseals.com.
